ReplyDelete''Most of Eddie's customers now were women alone with children, their fathers gone to fight. Sometimes the children asked Eddie to lift them over his head, and when Eddie complied, he saw the mothers' sad smiles: He guessed it was the right lift but the wrong pair of arms." After the war start, Eddie's customers are just women and their children. Most fathers go to the war, just left their wives and children. Life for them are difficult. This make me think about one of my grandfather's comrade in arms. My grandpa told me, they live in the same village and they are neighbor. They went to war at same time but the man never come back again. He died, left three children for his wife. The woman should makes money and take care three children at same time. Life for them are difficult. I can remember the old lady who always wearing a black jack and always keep silent. Even thought I was very young, I can't forgot the sad face of the old lady. The war has given her too much hurt. In my opinion, the fastest way to destroy human is the war. We don't need war, and we don't need pain.
